Affectis is building a pipeline of drug candidates based on the Company's unique target genes in affective disorders.
In 2007, Affectis will initiate phase II clinical trials for the second medical use of Cimicoxib, a selective Cox-2 inhibitor, for the treatment of depression and schizophrenia. The company will also start pre-clinical trials for one of its in-house drug candidates and plans to enter phase I clinical trials in 2007.
Affectis has also established a portfolio of proprietary genes based on the outcome of the world's largest linkage studies that have been performed in the field of affective disorders. These genes, which define the susceptibility to develop depression or anxiety, are directly drugable. Affectis will complement own capabilities in the context of joint drug discovery and development collaborations with biotech and pharma companies.
