Target Identification & Validation

Affectis has exclusive access to human genetic studies carried out on multiple patient populations including results from a comprehensive study that has been carried out over the last 18 years. Potential targets resulting from the analysis are being validated by Affectis using its in-house behavioural interference technology, which allows the behavioural phenotype of candidate genes to be evaluated in specific brain regions. Behavioural interference was developed by Affectis and is the first approach to combine the advantages of rapid loss of function of a gene with read-outs at the behavioural level. This allows the validation of antidepressant gene targets in animal models at a fraction of the time and cost required for existing methods.
