Dr Christoph Antz
Dr Christoph Antz obtained his Ph.D. in physics/structural biology at the Max-Planck-Institute for Medical Research (Heidelberg). He has extensive experience in managing start-up and early-phase biotech companies. In 1998, he co-founded Otogene (Tübingen and Seattle), and after leaving Otogene served as CEO at Abeta (Heidelberg) before joining EMBL Ventures in 2003.
Alex Martin
Alex Martin has nearly 20 years of operational experience in the life sciences industry, both in large, world-class organisations as well as in small successful start-up ventures. He is currently Chief Operating Officer of Intercept Pharmaceuticals, a biotechnology company based in New York. Prior to joining Intercept, Mr. Martin served as Chief Business Officer and then Chief Financial Officer at BioXell (BXLN.S), a biopharmaceutical company based in Milan, where he led the company's business development efforts and then took the company public in 2006. Previously, he was Vice President, Global Business Development and Licensing at Novartis Pharma AG, responsible for partnering key assets via co-development and co-commercialisation alliances. His experience also includes four years as Vice President Sales & Marketing at Medscape Inc., a healthcare information company, which went public on the NASDAQ, and nearly 10 years at SmithKline Beecham where he held various positions in finance, marketing and business development. Mr. Martin received his MBA degree from Harvard Business School and his BA degree from Cornell University.
